Belmor Contest - I Did My Duty, Now I Drive Heavy Duty

Belmor is offering veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces who now drive commercial heavy-duty trucks the chance to attend the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky, from March 28-30, 2019. The company is conducting this contest as a way of paying tribute to our veterans who now put in long hours on the road. Find out more about the Grand Prize and how to enter Belmor's contest.

THE GRAND PRIZE

Veterans who drive trucks are eligible to win a four-day and three-night trip to Louisville, Kentucky to attend the Mid-America Trucking Show. The winner and an adult guest will fly round trip and stay three nights in a single or double-occupancy room in a designated hotel. Applicants who reside within 150 miles of Louisville will be given a $250 travel stipend. The contest winner will also receive a total of $800 for use on local transportation, food, and other expenses.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE 

The Belmor Contest 2019 is open to former service members in the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, or Navy discharged under honorable circumstances. Veterans must reside in the 48 contiguous United States or District of Columbia and be 21 years of age or older, or have reached the legal age of majority in their state of legal residence.

All entrants must be employed as commercial truck drivers at the time of entry in the contest and when the prize is awarded. Winners may travel with one adult guest who is at least 21 years of age, or the age of majority in his or her state of legal residence. The winner and his or her guest must travel together. The estimated retail value of this prize is $2,575. Entrants must respond to the questions on the Belmor contest website by January 15, 2019.

HOW TO ENTER

Enter I Did My Duty, Now I Drive Heavy Duty on the Belmor contest website. Entrants must provide their name, contact information, and details regarding his or her branch of service, rank, and position. Other background information, such as the duration or location of service, can distinguish entrants and verify their eligibility to participate in the contest.

Fill out all of the fields on the application in a total of 750 words or less. Every answer must be the original work of the entrant and must not have been previously published. Responses must be written in English, and writers are required to grant Belmor the worldwide and digital rights to use, distribute, edit, market, store, reproduce, transmit or create works based upon any response.

Belmor is interested in what veterans who now drive heavy-duty commercial trucks enjoy about these jobs and how they feel connected to the world of trucking and their fellow drivers. Entrants should also briefly describe the reasons why they want to win the Grand Prize. The company also requests that entrants submit up to three photographs that represent their military service or civilian career as a truck driver.

HOW IS THE WINNER DECIDED?

Entrants will be judged in late January 2019 by a blind panel. The emotional engagement of responses will account for for 25 percent of the total score, combined with the reason and purpose for entering the heavy truck-driving industry, participation and connection with the industry, and persuasiveness of reasons for wanting to attend the Mid-America Trucking Show. Ties will be re-judged on the basis of emotional engagement. The entrant with the highest combined score will win the competition.
